Project Overview
The Mid Mountain Lodge at Tamarack Resort in Idaho is one of the most memorable projects we have ever taken on. The building started as an abandoned shell left behind in 2007 when the previous resort owner walked away from the development. It sat untouched for more than fifteen years until the new owner brought us in to finish what had been started. We installed all new utilities, including a full sewer system, water for fire sprinklers, domestic water and the massive storage tanks needed to make it all work. Getting those tanks to the site required two excavators walking them up the cat track paths to the midpoint of the mountain. From there we completed the entire build out, adding insulation, all new plumbing and HVAC systems and fully finished interiors. The finished lodge includes a walk up bar, a grab and go cafeteria, a members area and a deck that lets you look out over the mountains and the lake below.
What made this project truly epic was the rhythm of the seasons. We spent the summer loading the building with all of the materials and tools we would need for winter, knowing that once the snow arrived access would be extremely limited. All winter long the crew reached the site either by riding a side by side with tracks up the mountain or by taking the ski lift. At the end of the day it was common for the team to ski back down to the base. It was a challenging project in every sense but also one of the most rewarding, and the final lodge reflects the effort, planning, teamwork and persistence it took to bring it to life.
